Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau HQ visit, New Taipei City Xindian

The hot summer heat did not dampen the enthusiasm of the group. Under the leadership of Wu Dongming, the honorary consultant of the Taiwan Learning Yoga Association and former Director of the Ministry of Investigation Bureau, Anne Deng , the chairperson of the association, and Dong Ling e' , Chief of Zhenghe Village, 25 people visited the MJIB headquarter in Xindian, New Taipei City.

The MJIB, in addition to sending public affairs department colleagues to receive us, also had the current Director, Michael Chen, personally introduce the Bureau's operations. These operations include investigating major crimes such as corruption, vote-buying, money laundering, computer crimes, and drug interdiction, as well as tasks related to national security, such as countering enemy espionage, anti-terrorism activities, protecting national secrets, and cross-strait relationship research.

The Bureau has a museum that displays confiscated firearms, products made from protected animals, and various types of drugs such as heroin and methamphetamine.

The MJIB headquarters also preserved the former office of Director Wu Dongming. The room was simply furnished, and Director Wu sat in his old chair, which turned out to be a rattan chair. He laughed and said that this was a symbol of simplicity and frugality. On the desk were two old-fashioned telephones, one red and one green. When asked if the red phone was a direct line to the President, Director Wu just smiled and did not answer.

After walking around and visiting for the whole morning, everyone was about to leave when they were led into the lobby by the reception staff. It turned out that a bento lunch had been arranged, and the current Director, Michael Chen, also joined us for a meal and conversation.

After leaving with full stomachs and hearts, each member of the visit received a souvenir from the MJIB. This visit was truly a fruitful experience!
